Length of School Day
School begins at 8:00 a.m. and dismisses at 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday dismissal is at 1:30 p.m. There are certain days, usually prior to major vacations, that school will dismiss at 1:30 p.m.
Arrival and Dismissal
For their own safety, students should not arrive at school more than 15 minutes before school begins and must leave immediately when school is dismissed, unless directed to do otherwise by those in authority.
Parents must make arrangements to pick up their student no later than 15 minutes after dismissal. No student will be permitted to leave school prior to the regular dismissal without parent / guardian knowledge and approval by the administration.
Emergency School Closings and Delays
In case of emergencies or inclement weather, our school may be closed or delayed. MVE follows the Mount Vernon City Schools District with closings and delays. If we are delayed or closed, it will be announced through our text alert system as well as through local media. Click here to sign up for text alerts.
